Scientists have discovered evidence of supernova explosion millions of years ago in fossilized bacteria on the ocean floor.
Graduate students from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California-San Diego discovered a methane seep about 30 miles off the coast. This site is home to many unique, adaptable species, and is the first found in the region.
The first digital map of the sea floor has been created by researchers led by the University of Sydney. It combines data collected from more than 15,000 seafloor samples, over 50 years.
