Maxim Shubarev: Biographical information

Maxim Valerevich Shubarev was born in Leningrad in 1968. His father worked at an enterprise focused on developing innovative technologies and producing electronics - the Leningrad Scientific Research Technological Institute (later renamed Avangard OJSC). His mother was employed at the Admiralty Shipyards.

Shubarev Maxim dedicated most of his free time to martial arts and rowing. He enjoyed going to tournaments.

Shubarev Maxim: Education

Maxim Shubarev decided to take night classes at the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrumentation after he graduated from high school in 1985. He attributes this decision to his aspiration for financial independence: While studying, Shubarev Maxim also worked at the scientific and electronics production association Leninets as a radio equipment assembler. His income during this period was comparable to an engineer's salary.

Shubarev Maxim Valerevich was called up to the military in 1986 and served his compulsory three-year duty in the navy.

After being discharged, he transferred to the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (now known as the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great), from which he graduated in 1993 with a degree in engineering and economics.

Maxim Valerevich Shubarev: Career track

The future founder of Setl Group, Maxim Shubarev, continued working at Leninets until 1994. Starting from the basic position of an assembler, he climbed the corporate ladder to leadership roles. During this period, he founded the International Association of Young Economists, whose mission was to help nurture the potential of young talented professionals. The association facilitated internship exchanges, allowing students to gain work experience in Western enterprises.

Shubarev Maxim Valerevich left the industrial enterprise in 1994 and ventured into the commercial sector, co-founding and heading the financial-construction company Petersburg Real Estate. The company completed its first major project already within its first year, finishing a previously incomplete residential building in St. Petersburg. The project was completed in 1995.

By 1999, the company's business had significantly scaled up and it began operating as a corporation. In 2006, a rebranding was carried out, and as a result, the holding was renamed Setl Group. Maxim Shubarev serves as the chairman of the Group's board of directors.

Maxim Valerevich Shubarev has been guiding the company's development processes since its inception. In the 2000s, the corporation became one of the largest players in the northwest construction market. By 2016, under the management of Shubarev Maxim, Setl Group solidified its position among the leaders in the new construction segment of St. Petersburg. For seven consecutive years, the Group has been one of the leading developers in terms of new housing volumes.

Shubarev Maxim notes that as of 2022, the holding has constructed more than 330 buildings, improving the housing conditions for more than 400,000 people. Additionally, the company annually commissions around 10 new schools and kindergartens. The total volume of constructed real estate properties exceeds 11 million square meters. Setl Group's activity spans the Leningrad and Kaliningrad Regions.

Shubarev Maxim Valerevich supervised the development holding's reconstruction work on such iconic historical St. Petersburg landmarks as the Palace of Congresses (the restored Konstantinovsky Palace), the former imperial palace on Sadovaya Street in St. Petersburg (Mikhailovsky Castle), and the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist.

Under Maxim Shubarev, Setl Group operates based on principles of corporate social responsibility. The holding consistently provides financial support to healthcare institutions, sports organizations, orphanages, and also actively participates in environmental campaigns.

Maxim Shubarev: Public activity and awards

Shubarev is actively involved in the development of the domestic construction industry. The businessman is a member of the leadership bodies of several professional associations aimed at refining the industry and increasing its investment appeal. For seven years (until 2015), he led the activities of the Builders' Association of St. Petersburg (he currently serves as vice president) and was a member of the Council of the National Association of Construction Companies.

Maxim Shubarev has received a number of industry awards. Shubarev Maxim has also been granted the the prestigious title of "Honored Builder" of the nation.
