Typhoon Lan to Bring Flooding Rain in Japan This Week; India Flood Kills At least 41

On Friday, August 11, the typhoon managed to strengthen, moving south-southeast of Japan.

Typhoon Lan is forecast to bring rainy and windy conditions in the following areas this week:

•  Shikoku
• Tokyo
• Honshu

On the other hand, heavy rainfall unloaded in India's Himalayan region, causing severe floods and landslides. Solan district and Himachal Pradesh experienced the brunt of the severe monsoon rain in the region.

The monsoon rainfall in India killed at least 41 people as people were evacuated to safe shelters. Rescue operations also helped stranded and affected residents.

As landslides and flooding emerged, people were stranded on the main roads. Widespread power interruptions were also reported due to the incessant rainfall.

In the previous month, widespread flooding and rain killed at least 100 people from the extreme weather event in Northern India. At least 30,000 people came to shelters.

Himachal Pradesh was one of the hardest-hit areas.
