The Boston weather forecast for Friday predicts more unseasonably warm weather, but significant changes are expected this weekend.

Forecasters predicted partly cloudy skies with high temperatures in the 80s before a sea breeze arrives to cool things down near the coast.

Temperatures will plummet on Friday night, followed by much cooler weather on Saturday and Sunday.

A red flag warning is defined by the weather service as a combination of strong winds, low humidity, and warm temperatures that can "contribute to extreme fire behavior."

Any fires started today will spread quickly and be difficult to put out," as per Boston Globe.

Wildfires are those that threaten at least one-tenth of an acre of green space.

However, this does not mean that the current threat, an annual spring occurrence, only affects exurban areas: 60% of developed areas in Massachusetts border forested areas.

A cold front moving through the region will cool temperatures around the Great Lakes on Friday, but we could set a few more records in Pennsylvania, New York, and New England before the weekend.

Temperatures in the Northeast are expected to reach the 70s and 80s on Friday, which is 10 to 20 degrees above average during the day

But don't get too comfortable with the heat; temperatures will drop quickly into the weekend, and the Great Lakes and Midwest will already be feeling the effects by Friday.

By the weekend, highs in the Northeast and Midwest will be in the 50s and 60s rather than the 70s and 80s.

Highs in the mid-Atlantic will remain in the 80s through the weekend before dropping back early next week.

There is optimism that above-average temperatures will continue into the end of the month, so while temperatures will fall this weekend, April is expected to be above-average.

Rain, Windy, And Chilly

Athletes arriving early in Massachusetts for the 127th Boston Marathon are greeted by sunny skies and above-average temperatures, but conditions are expected to turn wet before Monday's big race, as per WCVB.

Thursday will be Boston's first 80-degree day of the year, with a high around 84, just two degrees shy of the record.

On Friday, temperatures will be similar.

Saturday, One Boston Day, will be the brightest day of the weekend, according to StormTeam 5 Chief Meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon, with temperatures in the 60s.

This should make for ideal conditions for the Boston Athletic Association's 5K and invitational mile.

You had a feeling it wouldn't last. Things are about to take a classic New England U-turn after a sparkling summer-like week of weather.

Two areas of inclement weather are expected to approach our area later this weekend.

A cold front will approach from the west, and a weak area of low pressure will circle us to the east.

The winds of change will be quite noticeable by late Saturday.

Clouds will thicken, temperatures will fall, and light showers will begin to fall.

Sunday appears to be grey, cool, and damp.

As per CBS News, there will be pockets of rain and drizzle with a steady, chilly onshore wind.

Cloud cover, a light drizzle here and there, and temperatures in the 45-to-50 degree range. Winds from the east at 5 to 15 mph. This is for the entire Hopkinton-Boston route.

Cloudy with intermittent showers, with temperatures ranging from 50 to 55 degrees along the entire route. Winds from the east to the southeast at 10 to 20 mph.

The cold front brings with it some periods of heavier rain.

Temperatures will peak between 55 and 60 degrees, with winds from the southeast gusting to 20-to-30 mph.
