As schools break up for Easter later this week, the clocks have sprung forward and spring-like temperatures are on the way.

However, there will be a chill in parts of the UK today, with snow and frost in northern Scotland before the temperature rises.

Despite rising temperatures, the recent wet and windy weather is expected to last into April.

Forecasters predict warmer weather for the South West of England today and over the next few days, while snow is still expected in the north, as per DevonLive.

The Met Office has warned that a southern breeze from the Arctic will push a frozen band of snow and frost into Britain, potentially resulting in snowfall in Scotland and some northern parts of England throughout the morning, peaking around 9 a.m.

Simultaneously, a heavy band of rain is expected to sweep across southern and central England from west to east. However, the south of England will experience slightly warmer temperatures.

The temperature in London and the South West could reach 7 degrees Celsius by 11 a.m., and it is expected to rise to around 10 degrees Celsius as the day progresses.

Surfers in the South West are also in for a treat, with excellent conditions. Waves in Cornwall and south Devon were expected to reach up to 10 feet in some areas, well above beginner level for surfers.

"Taking a closer look at the data, you can see rain spilling in from the southwest, spreading across much of central southern England and also Wales," Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said.

There is some uncertainty as to how far north that rain will make it, but it will be quite heavy for some of us - possibly up to 30mm in some places, so there is the risk of some localized surface water flooding issues in prime spots.

However, further north, the picture is drier. There may still be some showery rain with some hill snow for parts of Scotland, with one to two centimeters of snow accumulating on the highest ground.

Temperatures are set to hit 15C this week

"By Tuesday onwards, things are turning milder by the day, and by Wednesday, we could be seeing highs of 13 to 14C, possibly up to 15C," Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said, as per the Mirror.

However, starting Thursday, it will be rainy and windy.

The weather is generally unsettled, with showers and longer periods of rain. It will be mild at times, but wet and windy, so you won't be able to appreciate it.

And as the weather warms up, with temperatures reaching the mid-teens, the threat of thunderstorms increases.

The weekend ahead should be drier, but rain and strong winds are still possible in parts of the South and West.

The unpredictability of the weather will continue in the run-up to Easter, with the north avoiding the worst of the rain.

According to the Met Office, a general trend toward less unsettled conditions is expected into April, with rain-bearing weather systems more likely to affect southern areas on occasion.
