In anticipation of the effects of the dry season, local weather offices have issued numerous fire weather alerts for Texas.

Red Flag Warning

Strong winds and low relative humidity have led to the National Weather Service in Amarillo issuing a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect as of Wednesday afternoon.

Oldham, Potter, Armstrong, Deaf Smith, Randall, and Palo Duro Canyon are among the Texas communities that are affected.

A Red Flag Warning is also in effect for the southwestern to central Texas Panhandle. The weather alert will be in place until 6 PM today due to extremely windy and dry conditions for the middle Rio Grande Valley, northeast and east central Plains, and Sandia and Manzano Mountains just below the snowpack regions.

Up until early evening, there will still be a warning for strong winds and low relative humidity.

Tuesday's afternoon and evening will have dry weather and gusty winds, which will help create ideal conditions for wildfires.

Officials issue a warning that any developing fires could spread quickly and advise against outdoor burning.

Fire Weather Watch

A FireWeather Watch has been issued by the Albuquerque National Weather Service and is valid from Wednesday morning until Wednesday afternoon.

The watch is in effect in the East Central Plains (Zone 126) from Tuesday late morning to Tuesday early evening.

Officials advise against outdoor burning because any fires that start will probably spread quickly.

A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect for the South Plains as well as the far southern Texas Panhandle and also the Rolling Plains from Wednesday afternoon until Wednesday evening due to strong winds coupled with low relative humidity, the National Weather Service reports.
