As December is closer to the Holiday and Christmas seasons, many shoppers in England are preparing for the Christmas decorations.

However, the recent forecast on The Guardian showed that a cold weather alert 3 was issued due to the potential cold weather threat. According to The Guardian, temperatures in the region could reach -10C, resulting in snow and wintry weather.

The report explained that the UK health security agency (UKHSA) issued a level 3 alert for cold weather due to health risks to older or vulnerable individuals in England.

Cold weather due to severe conditions is expected from Wednesday until December 12, 2022. Residents in affected areas or vulnerable to cold weather should stay updated with the weather.

According to the Guardian's report, the cold weather alert 3 needs social and health care services to protect vulnerable groups or sectors. Meanwhile, others also raised concerns over the expensive and high cost of maintaining a heating system as cold weather persists.

The wintry weather could also affect coastal areas in the region, which could unload snow and wet weather conditions. Meanwhile, the Met Office warned about potential snow in northern Scotland.

 Health concerns

As the cold weather continues to persist, it could cause health concerns, especially for prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. Experts also said that families who cannot afford a heating system during the freezing night are vulnerable to cold-related risks.

The Guardian reported that Dr. Agostinho Sousa explained that cold weather could lead to consequences for health, adding that older people, anyone with heart or lung conditions, are vulnerable to colder weather. Dr. Sousa is also a public health consultant at the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

Although a heating system is useful during cold or severe weather conditions, the report explained that some families preferred to turn off their heating due to the rising and expensive cost of living.
