Unsettled weather will hover into the Eastern United States this coming Halloween on Monday, October 31, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The adverse weather will also be the case for the US Pacific Northwest, where rain and high-elevation snow will move and persist towards the region.

Meanwhile, the Northern Plains will see above-normal temperatures during the said period.

The Halloween weather forecast comes as the country has experienced a fluctuation of cold and warm temperatures nationwide.

The forecast also follows a recent weather assessment by the NWS earlier in this month regarding a potential major weather pattern change affecting the Northwest and the American West.

The weather shift was made possible by a strong cold front combined with storm systems.

The NWS' Weather Prediction Center (WPC) issued a short-range forecast discussion at 3:57 p.m. EDT (local time) on Saturday, October 29, issuing forecasts not only about the unsettled weather spreading into the Easter Seaboard but also inclement weather conditions in the Pacific Northwest and the Central Gulf Coast region for the coming week.

The short-term weather outlook is valid from Sunday to Tuesday, October 30 to November 1.

During this period, the NWS - WPC states that flash flooding and severe thunderstorms will hit some areas of the Central Gulf Coast region; this includes the states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mexico, Mississippi, and Texas.

In addition, similar flooding events are possible in the US Northwest and East Coast.

The looming weather events may pose disruption to infrastructure such as the damaging of power lines, resulting in power outages.

In addition, travel disruption due to poor road and air visibility could hamper road traffic movement and lead to either cancellation, delay, or diversion of US flights, both domestic and international.

Weather hazards linked to thunderstorms like strong winds and tornadoes are possible.

Unsettled Weather Forecast

Also referred to as the "Halloween weather forecast," US meteorologists such as those from CNN reported a new atmospheric river event that will bring showers and mountain snow in the Pacific Northwest as early as Sunday.

This is also in line with the WPC weather forecast, which added that a low pressure system will cause a series of heavy rain and severe storms across the lower Mississippi Valley before heading into the Eastern US by Monday.

In recent days, the storm systems brought beneficial rain in bodies of waters, including rivers, with historic drought in the Western US following months-long of drought and dry conditions since July.

Prior to the wet and cold weather in the Northwest, Fox Weather meteorologists around mid-October forecasted a "seemingly endless summer" in the region that could shatter other long-held heat records and increase fire danger.

The perceived benefits of the ongoing rain is based not only due to the hot weather experienced by the region but also the raging wildfires in California and its adjacent states.
