Brewing Tropical System Could Slam Central America and Expected to Become Hurricane

Recent weather forecasts revealed that potential tropical cyclone 13 could cause heavy rainfall and tropical storm conditions in parts of Central America.

Affected communities and residents are advised to prepare for the storm's impact, especially in coastal areas.

Based on the current weather update Advisory 2 on October 6, 2022 (5:00 p.m AST, Thursday), the National Hurricane Center reported that heavy rains, mudslides, and possible flash flooding should be expected in Central Central America this weekend.

Parts of Nicaragua and Honduras must look into the program of the tropical system, noting the need for additional warnings of watches on Friday.

Furthermore, the advisory said the heavy rainfall could result in life-threatening flooding in the next day or two in areas of Curacao, Bonaire, the island chain of Aruba, northern Venezuela, and the Guajira Peninsula of Colombia.

The report added that the system would strengthen as it reached the southwestern Caribbean Sea.

Forecasts noted that the brewing tropical system could likely reach a Hurricane level.

Hurricane Watch announcements are in Santa Catalina Islands, San Andres, and Providencia.

Moreover, a recent tweet from the National Hurricane Center posted that tropical storm conditions were set over the Guajira Peninsula of Colombia this morning, with tropical storm conditions present, and Tropical Storm Warning was issued.

At the same time, parts of ABC Islands and Northern South America should expect heavy rains today and through Friday.

Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center said the remnants of tropical depression 12 dissipated, located 700 miles ( over west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands).

On the other hand, reports of gusts to tropical force could unleash early Friday over Bonaire, Aruba, Venezuela, and Curacao.

Furthermore, the recent weather update from AccuWeather on October 7, 2022 (11:15 a.m PHT), the report said that the tropical storm was forecasted in the south-central of the Caribbean Sea with a potential to strengthen into a hurricane before hitting Central America.

AccuWeather explained that with the steering breezes in the high-pressure area of the north, the tropical system would move westward or northwestward into Central America, noting that places in Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, and southeastern Mexico must prepare for the impact of the weather.
