There were 20 homes damaged in a rural area of northern Kansas on Wednesday night after a large tornado passed through.

Tornadoes were reported in several counties, and when it touched the ground, several structures were damaged in northeast Oklahoma, near Bristow. Tornado warnings had been issued in parts of eastern Colorado and the Texas Panhandle.

According to the latest report of the Weather Channel, authorities confirmed there was one person who drowned and died after a vehicle swept off a road in central Oklahoma.

There were frequent lighting flashes, strong winds, and flooding in Kansas, according to KWCH. In Saline County, there was 62 mph wind gust reported, and in Cloud County, there was 60 mph wind.

Meanwhile, in Kansas, the storms in western and south-central parts downed trees and power lines, and damaged many homes and outbuildings, Daily Mail UK reports.

Emergency management officials in Ford County confirmed there two people were critically injured on Tuesday night, and they were taken to a hospital in Dodge City.

Troopers checked a rural area in Dickinson County, the place where 20 homes damaged, and they checked each home to make sure everyone was safe, according to Trooper Ben Gardner, a spokesman for the patrol.

Chad Omitt, a meteorologist said the tornado formed after 7:00 P.M. near the Ottawa County Community of Niles--it stayed on the ground for about one hour and a half. Omitt added that "the heart" of the tornado at one point was just about a mile south of Chapman, a town that was devastated by a deadly tornado way back in 2008.

Blast from the past, on June 11, 2008, a tornado hit the town, and there were 100 homes damaged, a woman died, and 80% of the town had minor damages, ABC reports.

Meanwhile, Jesse Lee, a meteorologist of the National Weather Service office in Dodge City, said crews will survey the damage on Wednesday.
