A Siamese cat has just celebrated his 30th birthday and received a cool new gift: a Guinness World Record as the world's oldest living cat.

Scooter turned 30 last March 26 and celebrated in his home in Mansfield, Texas with his owner Gail Floyd.

Gail says her feline companion has always been lively and very active, which is probably the reason he has reached his golden years. According to Guinness World Records, Scooter has been this way since his kitten days. He would play with Gail's hair and prop himself on Gail's shoulder. Even in his senior days, Scooter is still sharp and diligent; he would still wake up early in the morning at 6 a.m. and would wait by the door until Gail comes home from work.

According to Gail, Scooter has kept himself busy all these years with traveling and other indulgences. He is quite an adventurous traveler, having visited 45 of the 50 states already. Scooter also enjoys occasional travels where he accompanies Gail every time she pays her mom visits in the nursing home where she stays.

"He likes to see new places and he likes people," Gail told Guinness World Records.

Apart from this luxurious hobby, Scooter also loves getting blow-dried after baths and being served every other day with chicken, his favorite treat.

In October 2014, Scooter had a leg injury and has been undergoing treatments ever since. But his veterinarians said he was handling the situation well. "Scooter is quite an amazing cat with a strong will to live," they said.

But Scooter isn't the first titleholder of Guinness. He snagged the record title from Corduroy, a cat from Sisters, Oregon, who is now 26 years old. Before Corduroy, the honor of world's oldest cat belonged to Creme Puff, who died at the age of 38 in 2005.
